Week 2 - Brief Breakdown and Planning - Yana Taranushych
Ask Mary
Childhood games from different cultures
This idea would explore games people played as children in different countries, such as rock-paper-scissors, clapping games, skipping games or playground games. We could compare different versions of the same games and create an interactive website where people can explore or submit games from their own childhood.
Skills passed between people
Another idea would focus on practical skills people learn from family, friends or older generations, such as cooking, sewing, repairing things or small everyday tricks. These could be collected into an interactive visual archive.
The Block
Hidden details of one street
We could document small details that people usually walk past without noticing, such as signs, graffiti, textures, old doors or objects, and turn them into an interactive map or visual archive.
Stories behind local businesses
This idea would explore small local businesses and the people behind them, including their history and their connection to the area.
Boring
Receipts
Receipts are usually thrown away, but they can reveal small details about people's routines, habits and everyday lives. We could collect anonymous examples and turn them into a visual archive.
Everyday sounds
We could record ordinary sounds such as printers, traffic lights, coffee machines or supermarket scanners and use them to create an interactive audio-visual experience.
Current Preference
At the moment, I am most interested in Ask Mary and The Block, especially the childhood games and hidden details ideas.
