Title - Our Childhoods Shaped By Culture

The Problem - Although there is infinite amounts of information on the internet, there are still areas of research that cannot be fully explored, such as individual emotion and family variations of specific traditions.

As the brief states, we must focus on the 'Ungoogleable'. Our project is aimed towards spreading personal memories from our childhoods which were heavily influence or directly came from our culture. We will create an educational and interactive experience by developing an online scrapbook, where each page focuses on different traditions and stories which come from our own memories.

Project Aim -

Our aim is to give a platform to individuals with different experiences of traditions from their respective cultures and showcasing how they can change from family to family.

Our goal is to create a physical/digital scrapbook containing all of these stories, offering an in depth and human-centered alternative to regular search engines.

What is unGoogleable about this topic?

It is quite hard to find information on specific traditions and rituals from our childhoods as it differs based on experience. What can be an objective, agreed upon definition of these rituals can alter dramatically from family to family. Our topic is about more than just exploring them. It's an exploration into the human experience and how everyone has their own unique stories.

Who has it?

Every individual has their own experience, making it completely unique to them.

Background And Context

In a digital landscape dominated by an overwhelming amount of generalized or non-factual information from search engines, it can often be hard to dive deeper into various topics. For example, researching different cultures and traditions from countries around the globe can show objective definitions, but are unable to fully convey how they alternate from family to family. Our product provides users with more information on how these traditions are changed through human experiences.

Objectives -

Research both digital and physical storytelling platforms to gather a further understanding of how design plays a role in the user's experience.

Conduct interviews and gather stories of different childhood cultural traditions.

Build a working prototype of our product.

Test and attatin user feedback. Document user response.
